Short Term Respite Care

A genuine break for carers and warm, attentive care for your loved one planned stays, overnight support or help in an emergency, whenever you need it.

Short Term Respite Care

A real break, with complete peace of mind

Caring for someone you love is one of the most meaningful things you can do and one of the most demanding. Short-term respite care exists to make sure you can rest, recharge and look after your own wellbeing, knowing the person you care for is in safe, capable and genuinely caring hands. It’s not a sign that you need a break from them; it’s how you keep showing up for them, sustainably, over the long run.

Our respite is built around comfort and continuity. We take the time to learn the person’s routine, preferences, and needs before any stay, so the care feels familiar rather than disruptive. Whether you need a few hours to yourself, a weekend away, or coverage in an unexpected emergency, we’re here to step in with warmth and competence.

Every family’s situation is different, and so is every respite arrangement we put together. Some people want the same friendly worker each time, so there’s real familiarity; others are happy with a small, consistent team. We’ll talk through what would help most: the schedule, the setting, the activities, the level of care, and build it to suit, with the flexibility to change things as your needs and plans evolve over time.

Our respite options

Planned short stays

A few hours or a few days of support, arranged in advance around your plans.

Daytime or overnight

Flexible cover when you need it, including restful overnight and weekend stays.

Emergency respite

Life is unpredictable — we can often step in at short notice when something comes up.

Engaging company

Favourite hobbies, gentle outings, a chat over tea and the activities they enjoy.

Full personal care

Bathing, dressing, meals and medication, all taken care of with dignity.

In-home or away

Respite in the comfort of home or in another setting, whatever suits best.

Funding respite through your NDIS plan

Short term accommodation and respite is often funded within the Core Supports budget of an NDIS plan, typically covering care, meals and activities for a set number of days. If you’re unsure whether your plan includes it or how to make the most of it, our support coordination team can help you sort it out.

Rest isn’t a luxury it’s what keeps good care going. If you need a break you can take with total confidence, reach out and we’ll arrange respite that genuinely looks after both of you.

Who respite care helps

Respite supports two people at once: the participant, who enjoys quality care and a change of pace, and the carer, who finally gets time to breathe. It’s ideal for family carers who need to attend to their own health, work or commitments, take a holiday, or simply rest before burnout sets in. It also gives participants a chance to build new relationships, try new activities, and enjoy a little independence away from their usual routine.

Many families use respite regularly as a planned part of their week or month, while others call on it occasionally when life throws a curveball. Either way works we shape it around you.

Care you can trust completely

Handing over the care of someone you love takes trust, and we don’t take that lightly. Our respite workers are experienced, thoroughly screened, and chosen for their genuine kindness. Before a stay, we’ll talk through everything that matters, medical needs, routines, communication, the little things that bring comfort, so nothing is left to chance and the person feels at ease from the very first moment.

We keep you informed, follow the care plan closely, and treat the person exactly as we’d want our own family treated. You should be able to truly switch off during your break, and our job is to make that possible.
